I always have had this problem.
You cut at 6", moved the fence to 8", then came back to 6". Did the two batches of 6" parts match?
Close, but rarely exact. A fence set to the same number twice lands a hair apart, and that hair shows up as a shelf that won’t sit flush.
This planner puts every cut of one width under one fence setting wherever it can. The fence still moves, just less often, and parts from one setting come out the same.
